Formlabs ESD Resin V1 is a specialized industrial SLA resin developed for producing electrostatic dissipative (ESD-safe) parts for sensitive electronics and manufacturing environments. This advanced engineering material combines controlled ESD properties with high stiffness, good impact resistance, and reliable mechanical performance, enabling safe use in environments where static electricity could damage electronic components or assemblies.
The resin is specifically designed for applications in electronics manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation, and cleanroom environments where electrostatic discharge protection is critical. Its controlled dissipative properties help reduce static charge buildup and protect sensitive electronics during assembly, testing, and production workflows.
Formlabs ESD Resin V1 produces parts with excellent dimensional stability, strong structural integrity, and a professional-quality surface finish. According to the technical data sheets, the material offers a tensile strength of approximately 44.2 MPa, a flexural strength of 61 MPa, and an elongation at break of around 12%, making it suitable for both functional prototypes and end-use production parts. Its high modulus and impact resistance make it especially effective for manufacturing aids, jigs, fixtures, and tooling exposed to intensive daily use.
With a heat deflection temperature of approximately 62 °C at 0.45 MPa, the resin maintains its shape and mechanical performance in moderately elevated-temperature production environments. The black finish also provides a professional appearance while reducing unwanted reflections in technical applications.
Typical applications include:
- Antistatic manufacturing tools
- PCB holders and electronic assembly aids
- Component handling trays and storage fixtures
- Housings for sensitive electronics
- Industrial fixtures and assembly tools
- Automotive and aerospace production aids
- Dust-dissipative components for controlled environments
The resin supports 50 and 100 micron print settings and is compatible with multiple Formlabs SLA printers, including the Form 3, Form 3B, Form 4, and Form 4B series. Proper washing and UV curing are required to achieve optimal mechanical and ESD performance.
Like other industrial photopolymers, the material requires appropriate personal protective equipment and safe handling procedures according to Formlabs safety guidelines.
