Laser engraving and engraving tips

For CO₂ laser engraving:
• Use a CO₂ laser with appropriate settings — this material is designed for CO₂ laser engraving.
• Start with test settings: enough power to remove the color, but not too high (excessive energy may damage the anodized layer).
• Avoid excessive speed — slow and controlled operation produces higher contrast and sharper engravings.
• If engravings appear faint or too light, increase power or reduce speed.
• Post-processing: after laser engraving, gently clean the surface to remove dust and oxidation residues.

With anodized aluminum, the laser usually works by discoloring or removing the anodized layer — you are effectively engraving through the colored oxide layer. Ensure correct focus and power settings to achieve a clear, high-contrast engraving.

For traditional rotary engraving:
• Use sharp engraving bits and adjust the correct spindle speed for the surface. Anodized aluminum is harder than untreated aluminum, so stable RPM and feed rate are essential.

Important tips

• Always test on a sample piece before large-scale production.

• Take the anodized color into account: darker colors often provide better contrast than lighter ones.
